Just bought a new Starcraft 186 with a new 115 Mercury. The problem I am having is that when traveling just beyond trolling speeds and the motor is down all the way the livewell & baitwells backfill through their drains even with the standpipes in place. We first discovered it when they began overflowing into the boat and I had to use the bilge to drain out water.

I have had to add drain plugs to stop the filling which will make the use of the standpipe worthless.

If I pick up speed and trim /level out by raising the motor they drain out just fine. My only thinking is that with the motor all the way down it is causing some form of draft or the lower unit is pushing water up the drain outlet located on the lower stern of the boat.

The dealer said....he has never heard of that before and offered no help.

Is there a one way valve / flapper that could be used in this application? I have seen a ball type passive plug but will it work in this type of application that has to drain as well?

Suggestions?

Thank You.

Lowflyr
