livewell plumbing

Hello all,

I bought a 1983 Procraft fish/ski boat a few weeks ago. The front and rear livewells are non-functional at the moment. I'm not too concern with the front, as I probably use it as a cooler. I have inspected the rear livewell and have some questions, that I hope someone can help explain.

1. There is a plastic fitting in the transom next to the drain hole that I can't identify. It does not look like a normal livewell thru-hull fitting. The diameter of the fitting is 3-4" and has a rubber gasket. Does anybody know what it is?

I am looking at buying this livewell pump today. So hopefully someone can educate me soon. :)

2. The live well has 4 holes total. I've identified the aerator spray/inlet on the top left. At the bottom there is a drain hole. However, there are 2 large holes near the top and on each side of livewell which has no hoses connected. I understand the need for a overflow drain but the only drain above the water line is for the bilge pump. Is it setup to over flow into the bilge area? That doesn't seem logical to me..

thx

Re: livewell plumbing

With a larger livewell, typically there will be 2 overflow drains mounted high up on the sides of the tub. These should drain overboard, not into the bilge.

Have you had a chance to remove all your access pies and feel around for the fittings, as well as get a visual in the bilge as to where all your plumbing might connect to?

Re: livewell plumbing

I have checked the bilge area and hooked up the bilge pump that was disconnected. There is nothing else hooked up.

thx!
