Hello! New to the forum and to boating. Just picked up a 1989 Polar Kraft johnboat. Has a livewell with no pump. The inside well plug broke and the under boat intake pipe is loose from the boat. I don’t need the well but I want to sure this up so it doesn’t take on water the first time I’m out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I’ll try and attach pics. Thanks in advance.

Shot in the dark: Get a transom plug like used for live well inlets and outlets, low profile outboard and threaded connection with sealing plug.... West Marine is an online supplier and lists: Transom drain tube and plug: Model 307506...the West stock # and OEM Moel # 020303-10 for about 10 bucks.

If that doesn't work and the plug becomes a problem, go back to West for a non threaded transom plug (Motor Well Drain Tube....307498....Moel 020300-10) and go to Walmart sporting goods and get a rubber plug (twist type to lock) and insert it in the livewell end of the tube. That way the only thing outboard is the mounting flange.

If the pictures you posted are the top and bottom of the same threaded setup and there is nothing between those two places, then simply unthread the PVC fitting and clean it up if you have plans to reuse it. Then after cleaning the threaded fitting and both sides of the boat surfaces, either apply some quality sealant and rethread it back into place. However, If you certainly don't ever want any live well, then buy a solid plug setup and thread that in place to block off any water coming in. If you reuse the original threaded PCV fitting, then you can get a threaded cap to fit the thread to block the water from coming in. But then I would install it 180 degrees different then it presently is installed. That would give a cleaner smoother bottom setup so you don't break it off when boating, and give you threads inside for the block off cap to thread into place. JMHO!
