What's up guys haven't been on here for a while but I know there's a lot of knowledgeable people on here that can guide me in the right direction. Anyway I just purchased a 14 foot Livingston and didn't think that the sides of the boat were going to be that thin. I was wondering if i can stiffen up the sides of the hull with a couple layers of fiberglass? Or should I not worry about the thickness? I'm using the boat for fishing and I don't want to end up cracking the hull with some of the downrigger weights I use or a big halibut. I'd appreciate any advice thanks in advance

I ended up doing some research and I'm leaning towards sanding the sides of the hull to bare glass and adding 2 layers of 1708 with epoxy to stiffen it up. Is this a good idea or should I be good with one layer? Also the floor is a little on the thin side so I wanted to do something like this to lay on top of the floor for support. My buddy said to buy some con heart redwood for this but Idk how good it's gonna hold to salt and freshwater.
