I just purchased a Yamaha Speed & Fuel Manage Meter and a Lowrance LVR 250 VHF. They both have cables to connect to the GPS NMEA network on the GPS but I cannot find any instructions or cables to hook up. The VHF has a cable with bare wires and no connector. The Meter has a cable with what appears to be similar to a PS2 computer keyboard connector.

Can anyone help me out or point me in a direction. Lowrance is less than useless.

I don't know about the Yammy meter, but I would guess that it is NMEA 2000.

The Lowrance LVR-250 is NMEA 0183.

The 522 will accept both and the manual for it does show the wiring needed.

Look at page 30 of the manual here http://www.lowrance.com/upload/Lowrance/Documents/Manuals/LMS527-522_0152-181_120406.pdf

I've got the 522 and hooked up a fuel flow meter. It was pretty easy to set up but did require the networking kit from Lowrance. I plan to add a LVR880 as soon as I get my ROC (write the test tomorrow). I went with the 880 as it is NMEA 2000 and not a lot more money. I only have to add it into my existing network and I'm good to go.
