My boat/trailer are kinda buried in the snow right now, so I thought I'd just ask here, rather than start shoveling to take out the tape measure.

I've got a 1980's vintage LoadRite single axle trailer, with a 20' Robalo on it. The axle is 2 3/8" diameter, and I am thinking the leaf spring length on there is 26", but I'm not sure. They're the "open-eye" style, with four leaves.

Anybody got one, and what's the correct spring length? (I gotta replace the springs and u-bolts, and need the dimensions to order them).

thanks

Your best chance for a perfect match is to measure your current springs.

If I gave you the spring measurements from my 1989 loadrite trailer and it wasn't the same as yours, you'd be mad at me for bad info and you'd have to pay to ship them back.

Start shoveling

"Start shoveling"

LOL

Yeah, I'll crawl under there and measure the eye to eye. The old springs are real bad (saltwater/rusted), and the eye-to-eye is the way to do it. They're sagging pretty good, too, so it wouldn't work to try to match them laid up against a new spring. I gotta take the boat off the trailer to paint it and wanted to replace the springs with the trailer out from under it anyway, but thought I would start rounding up the parts to be ready to go when Mother Nature cooperates. The snow's melting now, at least for a week or two, so it's sloppy but not totally buried.

thanks

Well, I went out and measured, and luckily they're 4 leaf 26" open eye springs on there. I picked a new pair up when I was down in Florida last week, and got the new replacement pair plus new bolts, mounting pads, and U-bolts. Luckily, I picked the right size!

thanks

I'm replacing the leafs on my EZ-Loader as well. They are nasty. I could not find the same springs anywhere. So I called EZ Loader and the were about the same price as any other trailer supply that had good prices.

I also bought a few other parts from EZ Loader and they were reasonable as well. I bought new spindle washers, spindle nuts etc. I thought they would gouge on the prices..... The guy did give me a little break on price, maybe because of the economy.
