Locating sea strainer .

Hi all. I need help on locating the sea strainer on my boat . It has a 1999 volvo penta 3.0GS I/O ( SX-M out drive ). I read on an article and was told that it's the first thing to check if you have a overheating engine ??? If so I'm trying to have it in mind where to look for it if I ever gonna be in that situation.I'm not sure if there is a sea strainer on my boat !!! . Thank you in advance. Tim.

i don't know if you have one and i don't have an i/o but i can point you in the right direction, i hope. the sea strainer is on your raw water intake hose. it filters any crap out before it gets to your engine. you should be able to unscrew the bottom to pull the screen....if you have one.
