Location of 4.3 diagnostic port?

Hey guys two quick questions. Where is the diagnostics port located on a 2000 4.3 FI MercCruiser and could I use a universal car diagnostics on it. I figure its just a vortec v6 so maybe it would work. Im having hesitation at hard throttle so thought maybe if an injector is bad or something this would tell me. Thanks

there is one and no a universal automotive one will not work

you need a marine specific scan tool
