hello I am new to this forum so go easy on me. I have a 16' grumman deep v fishing boat with a deck up front and a seat and a trolling motor. I just up graded my 18hp tiller to a 35hp tiller and this new motor has electric start. My battery is all ready up front under my deck in a good tray and etc. my ? is this what is it better to run the battery in the rear of the boat or keep up front and just run long cable? thank you for your thoughts!

I think you should add a 2nd battery in the back dedicated to the motor. Would hate to troll all day, draw down your battery and then find out you dont have enough to crank your engine.

then there's your back-up. Or you could always carry one of those battery start packs for a long day's use. Just thinking about saving weight and space.

If your boat can take the weight I'd add a 2nd battery in the back dedicated to cranking the motor. You could tie the two together with an battery switch so yo can charge both and separate them for trolling and getting under way.
