I'm considering purchasing an old Lone Star boat. I have no idea yet what year it is, but the plate says Grand Prairie, TX, 40 hp max, and 1040 max capacity. I was intrigued by the construction right away, seemed very solidly built. It's a v-hull but the bottom is flattish with sides that come up almost vertically, 3 seats with a storage compartment up front and a small seat or shelf on the port side of the compartment door. Wondering how this boat would handle in open water on large KY lakes. I just need it to do better than my little shallow draft 14' starcraft. My guess is it will do well, but I'm no expert. I really like this boat and would love to see it out there with my '54 Fleetwin, and the guy is only asking $400 w/trailer. It has some hideous paint that needs to be stripped and some screwed-in rod holders that need to be removed and holes repaired, but is otherwise ready to go.

Any input, history, comments or suggestions you have would be appreciated. Hopefully this is in the right forum. Thanks

I bought a 1966 Chrysler Lonestar polara 254( a 19'6'' deep-vee) to rebuild---Chrysler bought Lonestar in 1964-65. They built a very rugged boat. You can check out my pics. I'm 2/3 of the way through my restore now. I love it.

I say buy the boat.

I had a 1965 14' Lonestar Big fisherman. It was a great little boat, excpet for the 5 layers of paint.... I stripped it to bare aluminum. It did leak around the riveted seams a little. We had lots of fun with it.

Just make sure the guy has a title for the $400 bucks. Or you won't get on the big lakes.
