I picked up a '65 lone star cabin cruiser. 23 foot I think. It was stripped out and was on the way to the salvage yard. Of course the transom is rotten. The hull is in good shape. Finally getting ready to start this project. I have all the drivetrain (So they said) . The block has a crack . inline 6. A rebuilt exchange isn't out of the budget. Looks like most of the drivetrain and accessories are there. Looking for advice on wich direction i should go. Put the puzzle back together? Build it for an outboard? Or go V8 inboard? Would a V8 even function properly? Bad idea? I don't think it would be worth doing starting from scratch but I have most everything for it. I picked up a fiberglass boat a few years ago. Marine Mercruiser/GM V8 onboard. Drive is all there. Controls, fuel tank, ... The boat wasn't used much. Divorced owners, no title, sat and rotted away so that boat is shot. Got it cheap wi th the idea of using the engine and drive on the Cruiser. So is it even worth considering? The V8 in the Lone Star. Planing on mostly fresh water use but I'm not far from the coast so i would like it to be able to go on saltwater. Thanks for suggestions and ideas
