Went to a swap meet today and was looking at a long shaft lower unit for a 78 25HP Evinrude. We have a 72 I believe, 18HP Fastwin with the short shaft. It's used as a kicker. We'd like to have a long shaft to hopefully get more bite in the water.
Will this long shaft unit bolt on to the older outboard? What do we need to look for in terms of it being usable, compatibility and tools. It looked decent. Nothing was bent.
