what's the longest distance you've ever towed your boat to use while on vacation .... for us it is just over 1,500 miles (one way) .... over the years we've done so a half dozen times towing it from central NC to a small town 70 miles north of Sioux Falls, SD .... we hope to do so again within the next couple of years

Re: Longest Tow

I did a NJ to south FL once, another trip to KY and TN, and a few NJ to MD and PA trips.
I'd probably not do the FL run again, its easier to just hook up with a buddy down there and fish his boat instead of all the hassle of traveling with a boat in tow. My biggest concern was leaving it in the parking lot of the hotel or motel overnight.
Not only that but the added cost of gas these days towing the trailer would add up fast too.
Not to mention that its been cheaper to fly lately.

Re: Longest Tow

Brought mine up to NY fron FL (1280 miles) when I bought it and worried about all sorts of things every mile of the trip. Only problem I had was I needed to buy a set of tires early in the trip. Fairly regular trips from NY to MA and NH, each about 200 miles 1 way. No problems (so far). With milage in truck dropping to 10-11 mpg when towing and tolls, it can get expensive. Then there are the idiots that one encounters while driving, but that was the main driving force for me to convert from drums on one axle to discs on both axles.

Orlando FL to Seattle WA, can't go much further than that. A little over 3000 miles if you take the direct route, my route wasn't direct, I had to stop at several locations along the way that increased the miles. Did another one almost the same distance...no issues either time.

ondarvr, you sound like my dad! He went from Auburndale to Lake Powell to Lake Ouchita (spelling?) to Dale Hollow, and many points in between one summer, with his slide in camper in his one ton, pulling his Chap 265 cuddy. 10,000 miles. Actually wore out a set of trailer tires!

Re: Longest Tow

Longest tow was about 3 hours each way. Made interesting though due to the fact that it's going over the Cascade mountains. Definitely a different experience than towing flat ground to our usual spots.

well understood on 95 .... they've been working on the stretch in SC just below the NC state line but they have a long way to go .... you can expect to see the trailer bouncing some down through there

From the dealer home, was 1,100 miles. Every time I take it out, it's at least a 2 hour drive.

Hmmmmm. From Ft. Lauderdale to Whitt, Whitt to Lake Of The Woods, Minneapolis to Sarasota, Whitt to St. Paul.

Yup. Done a lot of 1,000 to 2,000 mile (one way) trips, most of them round trip. The LOTW trip was done about 15 times.
