Mine is starting to leak oil. I've noticed about 8 drops below crankcase after a day of boating. Is this a concern? Also some oil are rear main seal, not much though. I have 1300 hours on it. What is the typical life expectancy of these engines?

Thanks, Eric 22' Davis

Leaks are not supposed to happen, find what is leaking and fix it. Many leaks are due to rusted pans and other parts due to water in the bilge or other water leaks. Has nothing to do with the longevity of the engine. It could last a zillion hours even with an oil leak. Life expectancy has everything to do with preventive maintenance and how, when, and if it's done.

Well, I doubt I make a zillion, but I did go back and put a T on it :)

I really should learn to read what I type before posting, but I won't

Just to put it in perspective; it's not unusual to drive a V8 car or pick-up 300,000 miles and it still be going strong, assuming regular oil changes, etc.

So, at a guesstimate average of 35 miles/hour, that's 8571 hours worth.
Thats 6? times your total.

True, the boat is under more of a load, but that's equivalent to "highway driving"
A car is subjected to many cold winter starts, idling in heavy traffic, waiting at stoplights. All of which are detrimental to longevity.

Bottom line; listen to Don. You have LOTS of hours left.
