Re: look at this

He was running it perfectly, then all of a sudden it started shaking and stalled out. He then tried to start it again and it would not start. He swam it back into shore and we pulled the plugs and found that one of them was smashed up and the other was just a little yellow. As you can see we later pulled the head and found that both pistons were smashing against the head and one of them was very dry and had a lot of shreds of metal around it!

This pwc worked perfectly before and this is the only time he has had any trouble with the engine. This pwc did sink 4 weeks ago the oil injector is broken (I think) but we mixed oil with the gas....
any ideas?

Sloopy,

It went lean. No doubt. I'll bet that little dunking put some junk in the gas tank.

2 strokes always run REALLY good, just before they seize up.

What about if the reeds came out? what would that do? the thing had a 8 gallons of gas and half quart of oil in the gas tank. the oil tank was full.

That could make that kind of damage. However, your description (spark plugs) led me to believe it went lean.

You won't know until you take it apart. You definetely have to do that now.

Re: look at this

it will be taken apart, I think it was running lean for a while before this happened. What could that metal come from that was on top of the piston? would the chewed up reed valve stay neer the crank shaft? or would it go up on to the top of the piston. The plugs are also new.

Sloopy,

That metal is from the piston tops and the cylinder head exchanging metal pieces.
