What kind of boat is that?
I hit the brakes to avoid Bambi, his sister and mother. Back brakes locked up and boat pushed the back end around until I hit the ditch, then the whole thing flipped. Truck is totaled, but the boat and trailer are salvageable (bent axle on trailer, broken windshield and motor cowl on boat.) Rescue accidentally fired up the engine when they turned the key to tilt the engine up after they flipped the boat over.
Hmmm, why did they lock up?
Not enough tongue weight maybe?
Causing the weight of boat and trailer to push the rear of the truck up, unweighting the rear end, not enough weight to hold it down.
Next time, easy off the gas, maybe tap the brakes, slaughter bambi if need be.
Wow, glad everyone is ok! Maybe some surge brakes on the trailer when you fix/replace the axle wouldn't be a bad idea? I know it's a light boat, but more brakes never hurts anyone.
I think instinct reacts faster than common sense in some instances.i shoot deer all hunting season, but I dont want to hit one on the road.especially young ones.instinct is very powerful stuff.and we make split second decisions w it.sometimes the wrong decision.Im glad no one was hurt bad.sad abot the truck,I like the old 70s fords w the coils in front, great soft ride for a tough 4x4
