I'm going to look at a 2000 wellcraft 200ss this weekend. Bellows replaced 2 years ago, has bottom paint and I assume it was used in saltwater because of where it is located. He's asking 5500. It has a 5.0 in it and comes with a trailer. Anyone have experience with these boats? Any known issues I should look for? Spots with rot? Thanks in advance.

I did own a (1994) 20' Wellcraft excel. I was not impressed with anything on the boat. The sides were very thin and flexible. It had rotten wood everywhere from lazy people not drying the boat out though. I replaced the engine mounts, the entire floor, all the seats and bolsters. It also was my first boat redo, and I learned a lot about boat construction, and fiberglass, and how to repair a lot of things. It was a big job, and I hated the boat. Nephew bought the boat 10 years ago and it's still running fine and looks good. Dave-R

Due to the salt water any salt water boat needs a marine survey done. If it passes muster that boat is a very good boat, compare its beam...and deadrise at 20 feet ......8 foot beam .....20 degree dead rise its more on par with 24 ft boats and above. I have a 186 and am quite happy.
