I know I do not have much info other than the pics. The guy tells me that it has been stored in a shop for a few years, but was running when it was last put in the water. I think for the price he is asking, that it would be worth it even if I had to do some sprucing up. I did not see any hull repairs or feel any soft spots when I looked at it. One piece of wood would need to be replaced. Looks like a cover of some kind in front of the door going into the cabin. Trailer is included also.

Anyways, he is asking $1200 for it and here are the pics I have:

1200 is right...if it runs.....go back and start it....water test it......

if the motor or drive is shot....the only thing worth money is the trlr..

but it could be a good deal

The boat doesn't look TOO bad.

Looking at the out drive though, you say it ran the last time he used it? Was that before or after removing the trim cylinders? The engine may run, but the boat probably won't "go" too well without trim control.

What's the story on the trailer? It looks like they grafted the tongue of another trailer on there to add brakes.

If he is asking $1200, it will take at least 3X that amount to make it whole again.

"Project" is one way to describe it. :)

Re: Looking at a new (to me) boat

Glad I asked you guys. I am not familiar with I/O at all and had no idea what was missing. I will have to go tomorrow and ask the guy plenty of questions about the boat and get him to start it up before I consider too much more about this one.

Thanks guys!

Re: Looking at a new (to me) boat

SportCraft made a really good hull, i agree i would not count on the drive train, or engine. the trailer has been altered. when i buy used i look around as to how they take care of other things. doesn't look like he is into a lot of maintainance. if the hull is in really good condition, with the trailer, it might be an ok deal, the trailer $400-600, the hull ???, drive train, 0000. looks to me to really use the boat, it is going to have to be repowered, with 5.7 or larger drive train. builders were noted back then to throw the inline 6 in those boats, thus being very underpowered.

The props and hydraulics are in the boat on the deck. The guy removed them and cabled up the outdrive so they would not get undue wear while sitting in his shop. It also has a V-8 Mercruiser as the engine and the hull all sounds solid.

But alas, looks like I am not getting the approval stamp from my wife to proceed. Guess I will keep saving up extra dough and looking. :(
