Re: Looking at new tow vehicles

I have always owned Chevys and love them. A couple years ago, my wife wanted a Ford F-150. We bought a 2004 5.4L F-150. I do have to say that it is an impressive truck. Has as much power as a 6.0 in a Suburban. The things I don't like about the Ford are steering wheel vibration(even with new tires) and some brake pulsation. That being said, anything beats the Chevy brakes from 1999 and earlier.

I have an 04 dodge 1500 ram quad with 5.7 hemi (360hp motor - 340hp at the wheels). Pull a 21.5' trophy and don't even know it's hooked up. I get 14-15 avg mpg ( 12-13 around town 18-19 on the highway). Just thought I'd toot Dodge's horn too!!!!!

I have a 2004 Suburban 2500 4x4 4:10 6.0 87,000 miles. I am very happy with this truck.
I get:
15.5mpg Hwy
13.5mpg Hwy pulling 20' bowrider
10-11mpg around town.
9mpg Hwy pulling 30' 12,000# enclosed car hauler
I would not recomend the 6.0 unless you need the tow capacity. Plenty of horses but you have to feed them alot of hay.

P.S. My wife was broad sided by a Mercedes E class going about 30mph. The wife thought that she hit a bump in the road. No injuries and $5,000 damage to the Suburban. The Mercedes was totaled and 2 sent to the hospital. It's good to be the big dog.
