current boat 268 searay weekender. Weighs in around 7000 lbs.current prop a 3 blade alum 15.25X15. I can hit 34 mph at 4300 rpm's
okay i was able to play with the boat tonight. Once on plane and drive
trimmed out i eased the throttle back down to 3500 rpm's. The speed
started to drop but not as fast.Once i got down to around 22 mph i
trimed the drive up some more. The speed increased to 23.6 and the rpm's
went to 3600 rpm's. So i'm making progress.
Plus this time i was able to turn on plane speed dropped to 19 mph and
once i striaghten out the speed went back up to 23 mph. All reading are
from a gps
I still would like to find a better prop to help get it on plane faster.
Right now at full throttle the boat starts to come on plane at 18.7 mph

Re: looking for a better prop

That is a ton of boat to get on plane (actually 3 1/2 ton)
Not an expert but I think a change to a stainless prop in a 14" pitch would help.I think it would give more lift with less trim.
No doubt the experts will be along with more specific info.
If you don't have tabs they may be a better investment at this point.
The actual best mileage planing speed could be as much as 2,000 rpm
higher than minimum planing speed.
