I am in the market for parts that are not available from iboats.com, so this should be a safe discussion topic, right?

As you can see from my signature, I have a '62 MFG Niagara. I can buy a new windshield from Taylor Made products. About $300 plus shipping, total around $400.

So before I order a new windshield in the spring, I thought I would shop around for a place that may have used ones. Kind of like a salvage yard for boats. But I can't seem to find that kind of dealer when searching the net. (I did find one, but they have not replied to my request for a used windshield).

These windshields were used on lots of boats in the 60's and 70's. They came in various widths, but were all the wrap around style with the heavy aluminum frame on the rear most edge and a rubber seal against the deck/dash.

Here is a link to an origonal sales brochure for a photo of the boat.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Mark.

Re: Looking for a boat salvage yard or used parts dealer.

There is some discussion and even a description in a do it yourself article at www.fiberglassics.com . Believe me, there are a bunch of us out here who would love to find a reasonable source for good windshields from that era. A number of folks have gone to a thin flexible acrylic, others have made forms and fabricated their own in a home made plastics oven. If you can find someone who has gone to the bother of making a form for your windshield then 75% of the work is already done. Hope you find what you're looking for.
