Looking for a driveshaft

Hello All ,

I'm looking for a driveshaft for my 1970 evinrude selectric 40 specifically my 40073a. I found one on ebay and the box arrived empty, the part is NLA on all boat sites boats.net and others. I was hoping someone in mn or wis has one in their shop or laying around. I need the part to finish my long shaft to short shaft conversion. I would be willing to trade my longshaft and extended parts to anyone looking to make their short shaft a long shaft the part i'm searching for is omc brp evinrude johnson 0379875

And if anyone knows of a repair shop or anywhere elso that I may be able to find one would be very helpful.

Go to http://www.seawaymarine.com they specialize in NLA parts and won't rip you off.

There is a long list of salvage yards in the "Top Secret Thread" at the top of the forum. Seaway is very good for old parts, but they will charge you list price of at least $145.
Did the drive shaft punch out of the end of the box in transit, or did they just rip you off?

I actually think it punched out , there was graese and a driveshaft shaped imprint on the packaging

Awww man, that sucks. So sorry to hear that. I am really getting miffed at the condition these doggon packages arrive, when you order stuff and have it shipped. UPS is just as bad as the USPS is too. From now on, I'll have to enclose items in a 1/4" steel box, before I ship.

Was that you I bought the part from ? HAHA the second one I got hadsomne custom looking caps and plastic reinforced box, I made sure to let the second place know to package it well. especially since I got to the bottom of the list on this site for where to find parts b4 I found one took two days and 15 long calls on hold lol
