Looking for a model suggestion

Currently running a 1986 chaparral 198cxl, but recently my wife and I switched from casual fresh water boating to having a salt water slip. Time for a new boat. We want a boat that is 20-22 feet because of slip length restriction. She insists on having a full windshield and porta potty. I definitely want an outboard. I know there are a couple hurricane models that fit those requirements, but they are a rare boat here in the North East. Anyone have any suggestions on models to search for? Looking to stay under 20k. Open bow or cuddy is fine. Thanks!

This :eagerness:

Especially with an outboard, does the measurement stop at the hull or is the outboard included?

I pay for 23 feet of slip, bow to tip of prop trimmed up. But I may be able to get more room next season, kinda up in the air. So I know I'm good with a 20 ft boat. We want a hurricane 2000ob, but they pretty much don't exist outside of Florida. I'm not opposed to traveling to get one, but if there are other models I can look into I'd like to

If you are looking at saltwater use, I would not recommend a deck boat. They do not handle well in the chop. Stick with a Deep V and a cuddy cabin. Cuddy's come in handy if you need to dip out of the sun for awhile.

Cuddy, Center Console (w/ head), Dual Console (w/ head). under $20K might be tough, unless you can find an older boat.

Porta poty or bolted in toilet you should go see what options there are in this area. Porta poty is like a fancy five gallon bucket they can smell worse than a Woodstock outhouse. Then theres the plethora of types of actual toilets with holding tanks running water and ways of pumping the waste out of the boat. Ranging from a hand or foot operate pump to ones you push a button.

And a real functional toilet that works without a lot of effort on my part was top of my list so I strongly recommend you figure out what you want here because in a lot of cases what you want here may literally dictate what boats you need to look at. We will spend long days on our boat we both decided we did not want anything at all like a porta poty.

Now after saying that, in all the years of boating ive done I cant actually state the cost that toilet added to my new boat purchase could ever be justified. However that new boat is parked in my driveway right now because it met the one criteria my wife wanted the most. Which is always part of a boat purchase the boss has to be the one who is happy with the boat purchase or one day youll be out there all by yourself enjoying the peace and quite of the ocean all by yourself while her lawyers drain your bank accounts to the point you have to drift in that boat because there ain’t no gas money for it to move on its own power:)

And my vote for ocean travel is 24 feet or more. But thats just my 2 cents worth.

Can't help with the shopping, sorry. In my most humble opinion you don't get a boat to fit a slip you get a slip to fit the boat.
