Hello everybody. I just joined up here. I am looking around for a new control box and throttle cables for my 1981 16ft Tahiti. It has a 1991 Mercury 4 cyl 100 horse outboard. The old box is still in the boat and attached but it is shot. I want to upgrade to a brand new unit. The PO moved the control box over to the right side of the boat instead of the factory left side position on the side of the seat. I'd like to keep it that way. Can somebody point me in the direction of a good brand of box? I currently have a quiksilver. :)

Looks like I'm looking for a flush/panel mount control box. Anybody have experience with these?

I have a genuine Quicksilver one I bought from my dealer, twisted his arm for a discount and live happily ever after. They are on eBay but I would check with your dealer as he can advise if there is going to be a problem and sort you out if there is. I did have to change the cables as it is a Gen II version.

This is the one, very easy to use, but does need new cables. Ask your local dealer?

Thanks for the info, Dave :) I think that one would work perfect. I've got a pretty decent marine shop nearby so I'lll go see what I can come up with. Then I can hopefully make it back out on the water!
