looking for a service manual on 87 powerplay

hello and thank you for stopping! i have a 1987 powerplay 185 ls 18 foot inboard omc 350 chevy motor. i am a gear head, but cant locate a service manual that describes instruction on how to change out the engine. i plan on keeping boat long term, so would like an indepth manual if i can get one!

ive taken out and installed atleast a dozen chevy automobile engine and transmissions on small and big chevy, but am foriegn to boat stuff and dont know what to expect here in the boat world....

i wished it is as easy as uncoupling the three bolts on flywheel to torque converter...but have no idea! thanks for any and all input in advance!!!!

A "leetle" more info is needed.......

Is it an OMC "INBOARD" with some sort of transmission (Velvet Drive etc)? Or is it an OMC Cobra STERN DRIVE?

hmmmm....not sure...how to tell? the outdrive is electric tilt up and down-am thinking cobra but not sure.engine is chevrolet 350 cubic inches(V8) inboard. thanks for responding and i look forward to gettin further

Well it could be a Cobra. If it is an 87 model. (and If by electric tilt-up you mean electric motor driving a hydraulic pump.)


The Cobra came out in the 87 model year.

If you go up to the top of this forum, you can find manuals in a down-loadable form. I had to buy a manual for my previous Cobra on EBAY for about $100.
