Looking for a Voltage Regulator

I am looking for a voltage regulator with 4 leads, off an early 90's Force 90HP.

Part number 817411

Will other part numbered voltage regulators work? If so, please let me know which. I do not have a shop manual for it. (If you have one of those i would be interested in that as well)

Have a look at the sticky title "If you have high charge voltage," at the top of the threads list. It is a lot cheaper that genuine part and the only thing you have to do is connect a tact wire to one of the yellow stator wires to make the tach work. This could be done by a small wire with terminals at each end connected from yellow to gray at the small terminal block.
