Looking for an opinion

I am new to this forum....YEAH ME !

We are looking @ a 2002 crest Sport 22 with a 50 Merc and trailer (dual).
The guy is offering it for 10K.
It looks good and has the usual marks of use on it (I am a current speed boat owner). No signs of abuse that I can see.

Question , 10K good , bad , or walk away ?

P.S. Not interested in speed with this boat , since if I want to go fast I will take the speedboat I own(and will keep) out that day.

You don't walk away until you've had an on-water test. If that checks out, then you walk or pay. 10K sounds reasonable but not a steal so its conditiion, condition, condition.

I just bought a 2004 SunTracker PB21 pontoon with a 2005 60 HP Merc Bigfoot O/B and like new 2005 Trailstar trailer and boat cover..everything in the package is in great shape... $ 8000

If you want to compare the one you re looking at, GOOGLE: "craigslist sport 22 pontoon" and you should get quite a few ..I did that with my Sun Tracker and got about 20 "hits" to compare with

I would try to talk him down and see what happens. Use every little thing that you find wrong with it to your advantage.

First, welcome, I find this forum contains invaluable information.

If it has no warranty, take it for a run!

I went through a similar situation. I bought a 24-footer from a guy at my work, only heard the engine run. ( not in water - we had flooding here, so unable to take it out) found out later that the engine is bad ( I suspect at one point it was run with no oil) So now I'm in the process of getting a new motor. Mind you I did not pay much for it, So I'm still ahead.

I'm looking at putting a 60HP bigfoot on mine.
