I'm looking for a source for a good (quality) water proof switch.

I need a SPDT (Single Pole Double Throw) On-off-On Momentary.

The application will be to add a trim/tilt swich to the transom area to lift the outdrive (Volvo Penta SX) while outside the boat. The V-P uses a three wire system much like OMC did (Red=Power, Green=Down, Blue=Up)

I may buy two and install one in the bowrider area to use while fishing.

I would prefer a rocker type but a paddle would be OK. Surface mount preferred, I want to drill as small a hole as possible.

Ideas/Sources?

Thanks.

Mercury New Remote Control Trim Tilt Switch 87 18286A43 | eBay

On a more high tech side.......

Could also install a RF controlled unit and use a remote control and drill no holes.........I have RF remotes for my lectric downriggers, makes fishing with with other folks a whole lot easier if I can just sit back and run the downriggers up or down and not get hooked by staying waaaaaaay out of their way. Could certainly run a motor trim/tilt as well..........

Sure...

The receivers are just small'ish 2 channel RF/address encoded 8-bit high-speed CMOS(gassssp) uPC(Microchip)relay controllers' on a PCB that hook to 12V for power. The relay's parallel the local switches as a bypass if needed/wanted.

The transmitters/remote's are just coin battery powered and have two buttons, A and B.........Press button A to go up, let go, it stops.....Press button B to go down, let go, it stops.

Just internet junk I changed up a bit to fit my lazy butt, kokanee fishing can get busy w downriggers.

Re: Looking for good waterprrof switch

Yup.....this is what I have, mine has always worked great.

How to control linear motor by simple 2ch rf remote control? - DnaTube.com - Scientific Video and Animation Site

2CH DC Wireless Remote Control Momentary On Off Switch [0020022 (S2M-DC06/09/12/24 & C-2)] - US $28.00 : RF Control System, RF Remote Control Switch Online shop

12V 2CH Wireless Remote Control Switch Relay Waterproof Controls | eBay

They're all over the net in various forms, prices and quality I'm sure, just make sure it's 2 channel (up and down relays) and can go into "momentary" mode and the relays can handle the current you need..........GL

Oh and if I may suggest with a main motor control..........I definitely would install a DPDT switch on the dash to be able to "switch out" the RF units up/down signals that wire into the boat's common up/down circuitry!! You know, if it goes haywire?...You don't want some stray signal from someone opening a garage door or flying a NSA drone over you keeping you safe from yourself raising your motor up while you're at mock speed.

I like these lil locker types for something like this.....

Re: Looking for good waterprrof switch

Do yourself a huge favor and go with something simple like this:
TRANSOM TRIM SWITCH - Marpac TTC-1-MP - iboats

or do a search for
volvo 3855650
which is what I put on my boat
2142_1.jpg

The Volvo ones are a bit pricey but I found a new one on ebay for a lot less that list price.

Both of these switches are waterproof and designed exactly for where you want to put them.
