Hi folks,

I have tried and tested many props since rebuilding and tuning up my old 1972 Mercury inline 1350. My goal is to hit 50mph at 5800rpm, so far I have tried the following -

4 blade 13.75 x 18p MACH which got me to 40mph at 5000rpm...way to low for any inline 6 also clunked badly when selecting gear due to prop weight, didn't perform well, too much prop for this engine i thought.

3 Blade 13.75 x 17p Ballistic - I loved the holeshot and the way this prop lifted me out of the water and bounced me over the waves confidently however motor revs past 6000rpm and i only get 44mph at best.

3 Blade 13 x 18p Quicksilver Stainless which got me 5800rpm and 47mph, however holeshot was not all that exciting and it didn't seem to have the lift of the Ballistic.

I have still to try a new 13 x 18p Vengeance, not sure how this will go....

Keen to know what your suggestions are... My transom bracket has no facility to raise my engine and I am not keen on drilling more holes.

Any advise on best prop selection from here would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Stan

Get a transom plate, allows you to raise and lower with the same holes...others will know more I have an I/O.
