Hi,
I'm restoring an old 1968 Chysler 35HP. I need two ignition coils for the magento ignition.

Anybody have any?

Thanks,

Newest part number availible is F12057. Original part number was 12057 however it shows that it is no longer availible from mercury. Here is a picture of it. For the magneto ignition the spark plug wire and boot come attached to the coil. The alternator type chryslers have a different part number and it is just the coil which will not work. Here is the pic. Try chrysler crew. they have chats every thursday nights and they might have one or try the Marine Doctor. Good Luck

Yup, that's what I need. I'd even take a pair of working used ones if anyone is parting out a motor.

Thanks

Are they physically damaged? They don't fail that often. I've run into weak flywheel magnets on 35 Chryslers. Look for rust between the laminations. That weakens the magnets. Rust between the laminations of the coil frames would also weaken spark. If there are cracks in the coil plastic, then I'd expect them to be bad.

Some how the spark plug lead came loose or moved under the flywheel and the flywheel rubbed it through. The spark plug lead is built into the coil so I just can't replace the wire.

I thought I might as well replace both coils while I'v got it apart.
