so my new to me boat a restored 86 23' nova XL ended up having a shot motor, so my good friend is rebuilding it from a bare block, long story short the original "builder" built the gm 350 with automotive parts, i am changing that crap out first off, i am looking for a good place to buy a marine distributor without kicking out $200 +, due to just paid paying for our wedding saturday, im simply trying to rebuild this motor to the way it SHOULD be, i love my wife and son too much to put them in harms way, if i cant find one at a salvage yard price it will just sit for the remainder of the season, any help is greatly appreciated.

Does your engine have an electronic ignition distributor or the points system? Its expensive, and may be worth it in the long run, a lot of guys run the Delco Voyager EST conversion kit. It will be a complete USCG approved ignition system that comes with everything except spark plugs. On the other hand eBay and searching google for used boat parts and emailing the places about what your looking for may be helpful as well.

Inexpensive - Marine

Now those are two words that do not go together. Sorry I could not resist. Good luck finding what you need. :joyous:

Do you have anything to work with now? If not, you can click here for a complete Delco EST system for $180. It comes with everything you need for less than $200. Hard to beat. I've ordered from them before. Here's what you get:

it came with a HEI auto ignition so im pretty much starting from scratch, the motor is being built to be as much marine, like Cam, freeze plugs, carb, i have a good intake as well as GIL dry exhaust just need ignition. Thank you fishermark that seems to be a good route to go. A scrap yard has a hull in their field, i believe its a well craft hull with full components, it looks very similar to my nova XL except it has 2 headlights in the hull at the bow.i already robbed the seat pedestals from it, if anyone knows what boat this is and if the ignition will work. I can take the entire ignition system out for $50 then just do a tune up on the parts. Any insight on this is appreciated, if not the Delco is going to be my route thanks again guys
