I know this isn't the typical boat question posted on here, but, everybody on here knows a lot about boats, and has given tips that have helped me, which I appreciate. I am looking to buy this boat, the owner says its a texas dory from the 1940's, but isnt sure. It does have the atomic 4 motor in it, and I know its going to be a lot of work, but i think it deserves to be made like new. So, if anybody knows what this thing really is, or could point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Ray

I know it’s likely you are in North America, but it’s a similar hull to some of the Cornish cobbler boats we have in the U.K.

If that is the original engine that narrows the date of the boat between 1949 and 1984. The right side of the engine should have the build date and the serial number cast into the block. There are a lot of those motors still around so parts for them is not a real problem. Sorry I can't date the boat itself but that is a start.
