I currently have a 96 454 mercruiser that has the Sea pump and fuel pump combo. The fuel pump is slowly leaking gas into the oiled area of the pump and it is also slowly leaking oil externaly. So I'm thinking of changing to an Electrical fuel pump and mounting a crank driven Sea pump. So far what I have gathred from the internet is I need a support bracket for the new pump (I have found a few available) I also would use the Johnson f6b-9 ( found many sources available) I know I would need to extend my reincorced hoses to the new pump. What I haven't found is a clear discussion on how to attached the Pump to the Crank of my 454 engine. Do I need to replace the current pully that is on the crank or do I need an adapter plate to mount to the crank, or would the Johnson pump simply bolt up to my current pully? Aslo is there anything special I need to do to make sure it is perfectly centered on the crank when mounted? Any help or link to instructions would be appreciated.
