Having trouble finding a seal. It is in the tube/tunnel (exhaust exit) where the lower unit and upper unit come together. Actually in the lower unit. It’s a big round rubber seal that seals the tube where the two housings meet. Anyone know what it is called or where I can get one?

fendersfender is EXACTLY right, and they even have the housings (that hold the shaft bearings) now made aftermarket, which you might want to consider changing. I didn't the first time, and it was the problem with the shaft spinning out of alignment.

Thats it, thanks!

Why should I consider changing the housing? What shaft are you talking about? This seal is just the seal for the exhaust tube where the upper and lower unit come together when you tilt the lower unit back down.

Freakin $12 shipping. What a ream! The thing probably weighs a few ounces.

sorry, but from reading your post, I thought you wanted one of the 2 seals necessary on the TOP of the LOWER unit, but the seal you show here actually installs into the bottom of the upper unit. The housing I was referring to is the swivel bearing, which keeps the lower drive shaft in place. Any wear there, and the shaft will start to wable, and eventually cause a major repair job, witch BTW, TC does a great job of doing too, cheap!!! And as for the shipping, that's UPS for you, but also it would be $12 even if you added more items. I believe Wayne gets a flat rate per parcel.

Same with me Mani. Thought you wanted the same thing.

That's the seal where the upper unit mates with the intermediate housing when the drive is down.

KaGee is exactly right. I even missed that one (been a long winter;) I believe the one you may want is the BIG seal that goes between the upper and unit and exhaust housing, OMC part # 308596 (GLM part # N/A, but Wayne may have an old one around, he has quite a suppy of used stuff), which is really only for keeping crap and sand out, or perhaps the one I thought you meant in the first place, a smaller one that goes on top of the swivel bearing, OMC part # 310649(GLM part#86040), which is also part of a WHOLE seal kit, OMC part # 982946(GLM part #87630). Good luck!!!

Thanks for your help. Sorry to confuse you, I really didn't know what that seal was called and the diagram I looked at for the breakdown just says "seal" with no part number or anything else. My local marina here in town is ordering me one (saves me the shipping) and they are 3 bucks cheaper. I guess local marinas can be useful for some things.
