Hi all,
A short history. I am in the process of restoring my 4th Tahoe, this one is a 2003 Q7 with a merc 5.7, Alpha 1 (Gen ll). The boat was neglected for some time and the interior is completely trashed. Funny though, the hull, engine and drive are in pristeen condition which is why I decided to buy it.
Most of the parts Tracker marine carries for 10 model years, not in this case. I think with the boating industry taking a huge nosedive thanks to our current economic conditions they are drastically reducing inventory. They also want people to buy new boats, not fix older ones.
I have sourced most of the replacement items, new bolster seats from (GLS) as well as a few other items. A new starboard wing glass directly from Taylor Made (tracker wanted $1300) I ended up paying $248 going to Taylor directly. Plus a myriad of miscellaneous stainless and other parts from different vendors.
I need a replacement Port console (they are all one color, tan) and Tracker no longer carries. They did quote me $261 for the console which I did order but he called back a week later and said the console is NLA.
BIG QUESTION, does anyone have a source that deals in salvage boat parts? There has to be something, I just can't seem to locate one. All those boats from Texas, Florida and the midwest that get hammered by hurricanes, tornados ( and I do have a heart for those that go through these disasters) have to go somewhere.
