Re: Looking for Smart Tach (smartcraft)
I have a 2001 Mercury Optimax 150 that will accept either a Smart Tach or Smartcraft technology. I purchased it used several years ago and installed a Smart Tach. Now, the LCD display on the Smart tach gets so dim in sunlight that it's almost unreadable, unless I keep it covered up out of the sun and just peek at it from time to time. I recommend you keep your gauges, so that you can tell at a glance your water pressure, engine temp, etc., instead of having to flip through LCD displays to find what you want, especially when you're running at WOT.
