My limited info says Mercruiser 17" 165 or Alpha application, al prop rubber insert.

I did web search using the prop number and merc prop.
I believe it came from a add describing a 48-79572-17.
Once established as a Mercruiser prop I believe they cover a broad spectrum of Mercruiser applications.

The 48 7972 17 corresponds to 48 79572A4 which is a 15.75 X 17 3 blade aluminum 15 spline prop for V-6 outboards and Alpha 1/Bravo 1 stern drives. It probably is no longer available (old part number).

The current 48 832828A45 is a 15 X 17 3 blade aluminum prop for the same applications.

The reason I was asking...there was one for sale on Craigslist in a Minneapolis subburb for $75. I wanted to know for sure if it was a 15 inch diameter prop or not. I went to look at it and bought it tonight.

It is a 1979 vintage and measures 15.0 inches in diameter. I'm replacing a a 13x19 outboard prop, which was put on this Mercruiser 120 stern drive by the previous owner, as a stop-gap measure.
