Re: Looking for vent window for boat.

That vent looks identical to the one from my 1987 Starcraft Islander that recently was lost after it's retainer broke.

My surviving vent has a "Taylor Made" imprint on it. I called an area Starcraft dealer and he said that Starcraft switched to non-vent windshields about four years ago. So, it's no longer a Starcraft inventory item.

He said that someone else wanted the vent, and that Taylor finally quoted a ridiculous price (like the cost of an entire production cycle of hundreds) to supply one.

Taylor does offer the slide bar retainers under "accessories" on their website.

So, friend, we are stuck with going to a local auto glass shop with our remaining vents and having them copied.

Of course, the metal channel is the hard spot. Maybe it's common as dirt, used in millions of screen doors or something, and we just don't know that yet.

Keep in touch if you find a source....

harrynew@cox.net
