Previous owner put these pieces in bare. There is no rot just dry. I plan on coating with poly then wrap in 2 oz. CSM with final coat of gel coat . I looking for everyones thoughts. I personally think aged is better. I am going to put new pieces in the AZ sun for a couple of days anyway.

To me, I think I can see evidence of cracking and checking in the laminates. I'd go back with new.

I`m going to have to agree with the guy who knows what he`s talking about. the defects at the edge are obvious enough to surmise that what`s inside is at best equal. Sealing a defect in won`t make it better. It will conceal it until that guy Murphy shows up. Plywood is cheap. Replace it.

There comes a time in wood's life where it can be TOO dry, I think yours has reached that point...as has been mentioned, plywood is cheap...your labor isn't...not worth taking a chance for 40-60 bucks...just my 2?...

Cut all new pieces and will coat with poly and rap in FG cloth. then gel coat.

Good decision going with new. If you're using Poly you need to use CSM mat, before applying any cloth if you want it to be strong and correct. With epoxy you only need cloth. when you use the mat, physically Tear the mat at the edges so they will be "Hairy". this will make it relatively easy to wrap the glass around the edges as it should be. Make sure the edges don't have any voids. It there are, fill them before applying the mat. Rounding the edges of the wood with a router really helps you when trying to wrap the edges.
