After using the boat all last summer Ive decided to keep my current boat (1990 4.3 I/O) and the one thing that really annoyed me when I used it was the factory quicksilver shifter. It kinda broken. the neutral lock button doesnt work and when you put it in forward gear you have to push the shifter a little further(into the throttle range) than the normal detent spot for it to engage or else its partially engaged. I pulled cables off shifter and they seem OK for now. what shifter would you guys recommend since the OEM one is obsolete from what Ive read? Want something better but with same hookup and features as my stock unit. The couple ones I saw Look like they have a trim switch but no "trailer" button.

Was looking at this one:

Teleflex Side Mount Controls - iboats

whats the difference between tilt and trim? 100 dollar price difference.

OR

Teleflex SL-3 Controls - iboats

Trim runs the drive full down to up to the trim limit set by the trim limit switch on the outdrive.
On Merc IO's there is a bypass button on the control called tilt or trailer that bypasses the trim limit switch so you can raise the drive up to trailer position.

ahh... so the tilt just means trailer. 100 bucks extra is steep for a "trailer" button
