Loose Ground?

I havea 1997 Mercury 75 HP outboard. Recently, the tachometer has begin to fluctuate a few hundred RPM. The engine revs don't change, just the tach reading. I understand this can be cause by a loose or dirty ground connection.

Other than the ground at the battery, what other ground connections should I check?

Check all your tach connections. If they are all good test your rectifier/regulator.
