I have looked at the postings on this topic and cannot seem to find anyone that has had the exact things happening. Could be I have missed it somewhere. I have a 1980 70 hp Johnson. Have been having problems with spark on #3. Replaced plugs, #3 coil, power supply, cleaned carbs (i think), replaced plug wires, seafoamed, checked kill switch (okay). With all of that I now have fire on all plugs. The motor starts good, idles good, and runs pretty good until WOT. At wot it is like it goes in and out of full. Some have seen this as still loosing a plug, some as a full pump problem, some as full line problem, and others. I have replaced full line with a new bulb still have problem. The thing that is unique about my problem, i think, is that if I bounce the choke at WOT it will kind of hold WOT, but if I do not it bounced in an out of WOT. Any ideas? On the cleaning of the carbs (I think), I pulled each and took apart and blew out everythin with compressed air. Could there be a restriction I have missed. I used seafoam method of taking 3/4 gallon and added 16 ounces of seafoam with fuel oil. I ran it for serveral minutes, removed and ran regular gas back through. Repeated this three times until smoke amost disappeared. Did this clean carbs? Please help.

sounds like a wot the carb is sucking debris from the bowl to the jets causing it to starve for fuel the when u let off the throttle the debris falls back down to the bottom of the bowl. try taking the bowls off the carbs an sprayin them out with carb choke cleaner

Will do. Will let you know what happens. I did blow them out with air, but will really clean them.

I am fairly new to this too, but have had two stroke dirtbikes and such for a while. To clean those carbs you really need to soak those suckers in cleaner, use alot! spray it, blow it, spray it, blow it. Did you replace all the o-rings, gaskets and such when you cleaned the carbs?
