Ok fellow boaters. I just bought a 4.3 omc cobra that was supposed to be turn key ready. I took her out last weekend and had this problem. After running for 5 min. At 4500 rpms the motor slowly lost power down to about 1500 rpms over about 30 sec. The motor was not overheated but i shut her down for 15 minutes and then tried her again. This time she ran for about 10 minutes and the same problem occurred. This happened periodically all day long. It never ran over 10 minutes w/o. This occurring. She runs fine at low rpms. Im stumped but im also not a mechanic. I checked the impeller and it looks brand new. I was told to check the fuel seperator tosee if it had water in it but cant get it off as yet. Does or has anybody know or jad an experience like this . Or can somebody tell me what to do or try?
Thanks...cool

Re: Loosing power w/o overheating

Doesn't take an overheat to cause that problem, A plugged fuel tank vent, or pickup tube, maybe even a plugged antisiphon valve will do the same exact thing. Best to test the fuel system as explained in the link below.
