Losing power w/o overheating 4.3 omc cobra

Just bought 1986 20' carrera with 4.3 omc cobra.like a dummy I bought it w/o taking it for a test drive. So anyhow I'm going about 4500 rpms for approximately.5 min.when the motor just started slowly losing power going down to 1500 rpms's over about 30 sec.. I was afraid I was going to blow the motor or something so I shut jet down
After about 15 minutes I starter her up again and tried it again. This time it ram again for 10 minutes and the same thing happened
This occurred about 5 times
So far I've checked the impeller and it looks new. I've been Told to check the fuel seperator. Does anybody have Any ideas to share

Ayuh,... It sounds like a fuel delivery issue to Me... I'd start with the filters...
