Ok all, I have a 94 mercury 40 4cyl.When I start the motor up and take off get on plain running full throttle(when it's cold),it will run like a dream for about 3 city blocks. At this point the motor will start to slow way down like as if you cut it back to 1/4 to 1/2 throttle. At this point if you put it in neutral it won't idle,it will just die.And at this point when you fire it back it still runs like it's at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle. If you let it cool for a hour or more it will run hard again till you get about the same distance.I can't hear any bad misses and it don't seem to be running rough at all either.I have a glass fuel filter on the fuel line just before the motor and it looks like it keeps good pressure at all time there.Any ideas of what I should check? thanks

From What I can tell (see),my gas tank don't have a vent srcew, just a cap and float gage.like I said in the last post,I have a glass fuel filter on the fuel line just before the motor and it keeps good pressure at all times there.I've ran this boat for years the same way to date.I just put a new 9 amp stator in it a few weeks ago and it has ran great sense.Any other ideas??
