losing spark on #6 cylinder

94 Johnson 200 Venom that has not been running right, seems to be missing. Hooked up a timing light and all cylinders are good except the #6 cylinder. It does show that is working intermittently when first started, but by the time it goes out of quickstart it is not working. Tried changing ignition coil, cable, and spark plug with another cylinder, but the problem stayed on the #6 cylinder. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: losing spark on #6 cylinder

Im not familiar with the newer engines.

But, the next logical thing to check , would be whatever sends the signal , to fire #6 .

You've eliminated , the coil/ plug end .

Good Luck ,

I've also replaced the powerpak, stator, timer base, and flywheel. I've also checked the ignition coils with an ohm meter and it appears to be properly grounded. At this point I'm not sure what else to look at. Any ideas would be appreciated.

How does the #6 plug look, compared to the others? How does the compression compare on #6. Bad head gasket?

The plug looks cleaner than the other ones. Compression is 95 on that cylinder and between 95 and 100 on the others. If it was a bad head gasket, wouldn't the timing light at least show I was getting spark?

Checked it with a spark tester and I get the same results. While the engine is in quickstart mode the tester was showing intermittent spark. As soon as the motor goes out of quickstart back to normal timing, I get no spark on the #6 cylinder.
