I have a Mercury V6 150hp, black max serial no is 06443480, 1983-1984 (not sure of the year). I took the boat out for the first time after running at wot for 10 or 15 minutes, the motor slowly lost power while still running at wot, it slowed to a trolling speed. I have replaced two yellow wires coming from stator going ot rectifier, they were corroded and naked, touching each other and laying on the power pack. I have replaced coil wire going to no. 4 cyclinder, it was the same way the other two wires were, naked and corroded. I have checked spark going to cyclinders, I have spark on all 6 cyclinders but some are stronger than others. When the motor is hooked up on the hose it runs good, the throttle will open all the way and it will run good but as soon as you put it in the water I have no power. A couple of days while it was hooked up to the hose and I was checking some things out, it started running the same way that it does in the water, now it will not even idle while on the hose unless you give it a little throttle and it is now missing really bad. It is also leaving a black smutty residue on the propeller and on the grass while running. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
JAthans

Stator or switchboxes are the problem. I would get a manual and do a stator Ohmmeter check to see if that's it. Replace w/ aftermarket products from CDI/Rapair. They work good for me.
Get them from http://www.seilermarine.com

Re: Loss of power/missing under load

Update on loss of power! I got a new stator from CDI and put it on today. Took boat to the lake to try it out. It will get on plane and run good at wide open throttle (5500 to 6000 rpm). Problem is now, on take off the motor is still sluggish and has a bogging felling to it, after spitting and sputtering it will slowly come up on plane, it has no power coming out the hole. The proble seems to get worse the longer that you let the motor idle. I am thinking carbs. or fuel pump if this motor has one. Any help or replies greatly appreciated.
Thanks
