My boat gets up on plane and then starts to make this rumbling noise. The whole boat starts to shake and it loses power.

Re: loss of power

Checked your bio, and if your problem is with that 90 bayliner, pull the drive and check the ujoints, and the bellows for water. Have you checked your drive oil? How did it look????

waterone1.. he he.. well.. its sometimes an attempt at a kinda slight smile.. perhaps an attempt to make the conversation less formal.. sometimes a suggestion that what i have said should not be taken too seriously.. three of em togther would be an out and out laff..

in a normal face to face conversation i am one of those people who feel the need to use lots of hand gestures and facial expressions to add nuance to the words that actualy come out of my mouth.. scribbling in forums is far to blunt an instrument for me.. i dont always come across as i intend to..

i also dont like those silly emoticons..

bascially its mostly an attempt at being more friendly and less formal so is my perhaps over use of forum slang and none use of upper-case.. i try not to appear too clever whilst at the same time not appearing to be too stupid.. he he.. course with some people it just dosnt work...he he he..

trog100

Trog I like to add stuff too. If I get some good advice from the forum and it fixed a problem I add these neat graemlins :D
Or if I am venting I add a
They are not for everyone but I think they are neat.

Come on guys. Enough.

Spun coupler or cavitating / spun prop. Does the prop appear to be in good condition? I would pull the prop and inspect for evidence of slippage. If the back of the engine is accessable, check for rubber fragments around the area of the coupler.

If nothing is found, pull the outdrive for an inspection of the u-joints and gimbal bearing.

Dave

Re: loss of power

dave.. i think the original poster has probably bunged his question in few forum then dissapeared..

"My boat gets up on plane and then starts to make this rumbling noise. The whole boat starts to shake and it loses power."

come on dave.. how can anything be done with a question like that.. its been up for over two days plenty of time for the original poster to come back and tell us a little more..

bondo did kinda hint that we needed to know a little more in the first reply...

this is one i dont think we will ever get to know about..

still makes me smile thow.. he he

and a new thought.. perhaps he never made it back to dock.. it certainly sounded like it was about to explode any minute.. that could have been a real distress call from a wifi laptop actually on the boat.. ????
