First time out this season my 1989 Laguna with 1989 175hp Merc serial c127467 was sluggish and wouldn't go over 3000 rpm under load (revs fine in neutral). Also, all of the gauges intermitently work, as they go goofy every so often. All fuel related checks were ok but found a bad spark wire. <br /><br />I was wondering if a bad spark wire could effect my guages or if my problem could go deeper, say a coil, switchbox, ect.<br /><br />Also, I noticed that the piece of metal under the rubber boot and around three sides of the coil broke. All the pieces are still there and contained by the boot but was wondering if the coils should be replaced because of that. They seem fine otherwise.
