Tim Russert dies, he was 58. Had a heart attack.
A good news broadcaster that will be missed each Sunday morning.

I agree. I liked him too - a great broadcaster who seemed to have a great personality. To his family, I would say "you must be great people because great men tend to achieve that status through the love, support and guidance of very special folks!"

PS: I just watched about 30 minutes of video news clips about him on CNN.com. Its funny how you can watch someone on the tube frequently, especially a journalist, and not really know that much about the person. I guess this is true because they usually aren't fodder for celebrity rags and TV shows, but it still seems odd. As my initial reaction was that its sad to see one of the good ones die at a relatively young age, I am now even more of that opinion. This guy reached the top of his business, seemingly, without resorting to the sorts of shenanigans that go on in the television news business. It was also a great family man and just a great citizen.

... shocker. humble, approachable guy. when in town he would sometimes chow down at a breakfast resteraunt where my lady works. she remembered asking him once if he had lost some weight and he replied smiling "i'm the biggest i've ever been". sad day for journalists indeed.

Around here he will be missed even more.He was a "local" who spent a lot of time in Buffalo,NY where he was born. When he was an aide to Cuomo,a one time NYS governor,he did a lot of good for Upstate NY

A sad day for broadcast journalism. He had a unique ability to ask the tough questions without appearing vicious. Another well-known journalist touts himself as being "fair and balanced" in his approach to those he interviews, but I suspect he borrowed some of his technique from Tim Russert, who's been doing it right since 1991.
